SMUDGE - Nov '12

From this scraggy waif to a handsome young boy.  Rescuing is hard, because sometimes the outcome is not always a good one.  But with little SMUDGE there wasn’t such a dilemma.  As soon as he was rescued and picked up on 3rd November 2012, he instantly snuggled up to us and purred his little head off.  Day by day, after being cleaned up and being fed, he got on so well with all the other strays in the old house.  The adjacent neighbour to this field was cruel and maybe that was the reason we lost 7 little ones in the space of a few weeks.  A home had to be found for him.  However, you soon realize that by posting on many social sites, one begins to see how many other people are doing exactly the same thing.  So many strays, so many SOS pleas, so many desperate situations.  In just over a year, Smudge had changed from looking like a scraggy stray waif to being a fine healthy loving young boy.

Why are people so cruel to animals?  Why don't animal owners in so many Mediterranean countries have their pets neutered or sterilized?  OK, we understand that some people might not agree with this practice, but it is certainly kinder than dumping puppies and kittens into garbage wastebins, abandoning them in the hills or worse still, poisoning them!

However, for Smudge there was some good news.  He was wanted! and this was within Greece!  Towards the end of December 2013, he went to the Greek island of Skyros to join his new forever-loving family.  What a delightful ending for our little Smudge.
